Farewell Dinner

We are now down to our last day of teaching! The day today went well today. I taught the whole day about weather and seasons. We listened to John Denver's Sunshine on my Shoulders for the summer part of the lessons. We sang Rain is Falling all Around for Spring, and Once there was a Snowman for Winter.

On the way home in the hotel there was a wedding. The bride has her room next door to ours and came out all dressed up in her beautiful dress. We will listen for happy endings tonight.  During the dinner fireworks with going off to celebrate the wedding!

We walked around the corner to the farewell dinner put on by the officials from the school. As usual, they go all out with all sorts of exotic foods.  We began with the appetizers of squid, snails, octopus, pickled cabbage, smoked fish, dates, and some type of hairy root that tasted like potatoes. The wine and beer were flowing freely. Glad I don't drink!
It was followed by the main courses of fish, snowpeas with bacon, bitter vegetable, green beens wrapped around vegetables with shrimp (beautiful), cashews and beef, beef with sticky rice, chicken spicy wings, hot peppers, backed pumpkin with garlic, and soup with mushrooms and who knows what else in it!

Our group from Alaska presented the school with a flag that had flown over the capital.

Bottoms Up!  A term used to get you to drink as much as you can, as fast as you can!  There was quite some drinking going on!  Some people can really put it down!
